Hand-Loomed Jorongo/Serape/Tapete (Foggy Canyon)

Hand-Loomed Jorongo/Serape/Tapete (Foggy Canyon)

Our limited-edition convertible jorongos, much like the ponchos Chavela Vargas popularized in the 1950s, are hand-loomed in Jalisco, one at a time, by master textile artist Pedro Romo de la Rosa.

The beauty of this convertible piece is that it may be worn on the body in three different ways, as outerwear; used as a serape/throw on the bed or the back of a couch for texture and warmth; and used as a tapete/rug in virtually any room of your home.

Each 100% wool jorongo is hand-dyed, hand-woven using a traditional pedal loom, and then hand-finished with knotted fringe. A true piece of art. Please see notes below regarding dimensions, care instructions, etc.

DIMENSIONS: One size fits most. 38" wide, 74" long, with 11" opening for neck.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Dry clean only, as little as possible. To dust, carefully shake the jorongo outside, once every 2-3 months. A warm iron may be used to smooth any creases as a result of shipping or storage. Do not iron the jorongo directly—protect the surface by ironing through a bed sheet or other piece of fabric.

RETURNS + EXCHANGES: We are happy to refund full-price jorongos that are unworn, unwashed, and undamaged, with original tags and packaging, within 14 days of the original date of purchase. All sales are otherwise final after 14 days. We cannot exchange jorongos from our handmade collection, because they are one of a kind. Please note: a $75 restocking fee applies to the return of handmade jorongo. Please carefully consider all details of a handmade item before making your purchase—we are happy to answer any questions you may have. Please see our full Returns + Exchanges policy for more information.
